There are now 569 people on trolleys in Irish hospital emergency wards. This is a new record. The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation released the figures today.
Cork University hospital tops the league with 48 people trolley bound on the locally named “Mary Harney ward”. It is a new record for numbers on trolleys in emergency departments. Beaumont Hospital 45 patients are on trolleys and in Limerick 44.
The continuing problem has led many to suspect that it is deliberate policy to promote the use of private for profit hospitals by making life unbearable in the public hospitals.
